Youngwol Y Park is home to a sculpture as attention-grabbing as the museum’s famous red bamboo field. It’s a massive wooden egg that can be seen from just about anywhere. It is called “Jupiter,” which is a beautiful name. At first glance, the name may not seem appropriate, but if you look inside, you’ll see that “Jupiter” is the perfect name for this mysterious egg. “Jupiter” was created by stacking pieces of pine wood from Gangwon-do Province one by one. There is a small hole in the ceiling of the semi-cylindrical structure. Once inside “Jupiter,” the light shines through the gaps in the pine trees and holes in the ceiling. In this space where you’re isolated from the surrounding landscape and only darkness and light beams remain, you can sense a miniature universe.
